How to check the level of engine oil In your vehicle.

Oil is a very important part of your car because it lubricates the machinery inside so that everything can stay healthy. In order to ensure your vehicle has enough engine oil; it is a good idea to keep it in check  from time to time. In fact, it is recommended to check it at every other fuel-stop. For this reason we have created this article to help motor users check their oil manually.

To check the level of engine oil requires one to take a few precautions in mind. If you don’t you might harm yourself and your car. Below is a five step process that ought to be followed when checking the level of your engine oil.

  1. Firstly make sure that your engine is off.
  2. Open the bonnet where the engine resides. Most vehicles have their engines in the front bonnet. Be sure to use the lever that you are supposed to pull or push to open the bonnet.
  3. Find the dipstick, pull it out and wipe the oil with a dry cloth.
  4. Reinsert the dipstick in its’ tube (where you pulled it from. Be sure to push it all the way down.
  5. Pull the dipstick out again and check the level of the oil on both sides.

NB:If the top of the oil streak is between the upper/lower (maximum/minimum) marks, then the level is good. However, if the oil is below the minimum mark, it’s time to add some oil.
